The 8 Enigmas of NYC
New York City is a place filled with history, culture, and its fair share of enigmas and mysteries. Here are some of the most incredible enigmas associated with the city:
1) The Disappearance of Judge Joseph Force Crater
In 1930, Judge Joseph Crater, a New York State Supreme Court Justice, mysteriously vanished without a trace shortly after the state began an investigation into corruption in New York City. His disappearance became one of the most famous missing person cases in American history. Despite extensive investigations, his fate and whereabouts remain unknown to this day.
2) The Manhattan Project
During World War II, the Manhattan Project was a top-secret research and development project that produced the world's first nuclear weapons. However, the bulk of the work conducted during its existence didn’t take place in Manhattan. In fact, the two most prominent sites were in New Mexico and Tennessee.
3) The Montauk Project
While not in New York City itself, rather on Long Island. The Montauk Project is an alleged series of secret government experiments said to have taken place at Camp Hero, a former military base. It's said to involve mind control, time travel, staging faked Apollo moon landings and various paranormal phenomena. The existence and purpose of the project are highly debated, making it an intriguing New York-related enigma.
4) The Tunnels Beneath Grand Central Terminal
Rumors still persist about a network of secret tunnels and passages beneath Grand Central Terminal, including a hidden M42 sub-basement. While some of these have been explored and verified, there may be others yet to be discovered.
5) The Ghosts of New Amsterdam
New York City's history goes back centuries, and many people believe it's haunted by restless spirits from its Dutch colonial days. There have been numerous reports of ghostly sightings in places like the Merchant's House Museum and the Morris-Jumel Mansion.
6) The Mystery of Typhoid Mary
Mary Mallon, known as "Typhoid Mary," was a cook who spread typhoid fever to multiple households in New York City in the early 20th century. She was forcibly quarantined in 1907, then released in 1910, she continued to infect numerous families until she was caught and forcibly quarantined again in 1915 and there she remained until her death in 1938. Her case raised ethical and legal questions about public health and individual rights.
7) The Secrets of The Dakota
The Dakota is one of New York City's most famous apartment buildings and has been home to numerous celebrities and historical figures. It's also the site of various rumors and enigmas, including tales of rejecting celebrities such as Billy Joel, Madonna, Antonio Banderas, and Cher, and alledged sightings of John Lennon's ghost.
8) The Manhattan Well Murder
In 1800, the murder of a young woman named Elma Sands in what is now SoHo became one of the first recorded murder trials in New York City. The accused, Levi Weeks, was acquitted after being defended by Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr, 4 years later Burr would kill Hamilton in a duel and even though dueling was illegal Burr was never tried and all charges against him were dropped.

There needs to be a # Don’t Tip Today ! Movement like every Friday or Saturday where people all over the nation agree to not tip and when asked why they should bring up the grievances of tipping culture in America like (the menu should list the total price of each item taxes included) , (No one should have to tip before a service is rendered), (tipping should be a nice gesture), ( tipping should not be extortion A don’t spit in my food tax). If most Americans stop tipping altogether employers will have to pay employees more. As it stands employers and employees benefit from the tipping culture as the employers pays less and on average the employees make a lot more all at the expense of bribing customers. It is completely unethical.
Don't go to a place where they imprison you for a mistake. Don't give them your money.
